早いもので、今週月曜日の夜に来校された、オーストラリアの姉妹校、カシミア・カトリック・カレッジの皆さんとも本日がお別れの日になりました。昨晩はフェアウェルパーティを開催し、大変盛り上がりました。この３日間は、カシミアの生徒たちは、バディと共に本校の授業に参加したり、部活動に参加したり、さまざまな活動において日本文化や日本の教育に触れる経験をしました。本校訪問の前には、東京～箱根～京都～広島～大阪を訪れ、２週間の長い行程の最後が本校だったので、疲れもあったと思いますが、毎日元気いっぱい楽しんでいたように思います。

パーティーの冒頭には、本校吹奏楽部がすばらしい演奏で盛り上げてくれました。その後は、両校代表の教員の挨拶、生徒の挨拶やゲームやダンスと続きました。最後に全員で集合写真を撮りましたが、解散後も、バディ同士で写真を撮ったり、最後のハグをしたり、名残惜しさが尽きませんでした。

短い時間でしたが、交流に参加した生徒たちにはかけがいのない友情が芽生え、かけがえのない感動的な体験ができました。これはどんなにたくさんお金があろうとも買えないものであり、生涯の宝物となるものです。生徒によっては、この体験は人生を変えるような大きな意味を持つ場合もあります。また語学に対する学び方も変わります。中高６年間やってもなかなか話せない英語を半年でマスターできる生徒も出てきます。姉妹校交流は訪問する時も受け入れも準備が大変なのですが、準備から運営まで生徒たちに任せる事によって生徒のエージェンシーが生まれます。

両校の生徒たちがスピーチでこんな事を言ってました。
「日本とオーストラリアの間には大きな海が存在するが、私たちは同じ空の下で生きている。」
今年の夏にカシミア校を訪問する生徒たちも、生涯の宝物となるすばらしい体験をしてきてもらいたいと思います。

Good evening, everyone,
Thank you all for joining us at today's farewell party. Over the past few days, we have shared many wonderful moments and cultivated new friendships, all of which were made possible by your presence here.

Firstly, on behalf of Josho Gakuen High School, our staff, and our students, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the students and staff from our sister school for traveling such a long distance to visit us. Your friendship and cooperation over these three days have been truly invaluable.

Australian students, all of you must have had many good memories in Japan.  What is your best memory? View of Mt.Fuji? Golden pavilion? Miyajima? Akihabara? Universal studio Japan? Many convenience stores and vending machines might be also impressive. But I hope that it is your buddies and the time that you have spent with your buddies at Josho Gakuen High School.

The good times always come to an end, and the time is approaching when we must say goodbye. However, experiences like this one become treasures for a lifetime. We sincerely hope to continue and deepen this friendship in the years to come.

Lastly, we look forward to the day you all will visit us again. Take care, continue your excellent pursuits in learning, and thank you once again. May today be a memorable day for everyone present here.
